Why doesn’t my iPod charger work with my universal apple iPod base? Will this one?

Pete asked:

My charger is a griffin mains plug which charges up my iPod, but when I try and charge up my iPod through the universal dock – nothing happens..?

Now I believe this is because the output of the charger is not the USB standard (5volts), its attually around 18volts – which is fine for my iPod but the dock doesn’t like it. Anyway back to my question..

Was going to get an offical apple one – but the reviews I have read arn’t great.. “adapter comes in two parts and these have to be fitted together. It is a push fit and the two parts do not lock together” *sigh*

I’ve been looking on eBay for a UK mains to USB adapter. I’ve found several but they all say the output of them is 5volts (+/- 5%)

Here is one.. http://item.express.ebay.co.uk/__Mobile-Phone-Chargers_Switch-Mode-5v-DC-Power-Supply-with-USB-Port_W0QQitemZ110230398765QQihZ001QQptdnZMobileQ20PhoneQ20ChargersQQptdiZ1730QQcmdZExpressItem

I want to know if this will work on my dock. Please help

Petexx..

I would return it and just buy the wall charger or the iHome.
that’s what I use for my ipod

there’s nothing bad about Apple’s wall charger for the iPod. i guess for you, since you’re in the UK, you will need an adaptor for the plug.

    hope you get it fixed
