Does Anyone Own An Apple iPod Classic?

Like It Or Not asked:
I recently ordered an 80 gb ipod classic and will be receiving it in a few days- I’ve been reading a lot of bad reviews about it. Does anyone own one and had problems with it? What kind of problems and how does it compare to the 5.5 version(if you ever owned one)? Should I return it before I open it? Thanks
I paid $230 for it on Amazon.com.
I have about 30 gb worth of music and videos.

It depends on how much money it was. If it was the same, or more price as say a 40 gig nano or a 40 gig touch, then send it back and get on of those. But, if not, they’re not that bad

In my opinion, you should have done the review reading before buying it. I tried one out at the apple store, and the only thing about it I saw was the slow menu and cover slide (or whatever it is). I’ve heard that it’s only slow if you have a rather large play list though. It kind of depends on what size library you have. If you have one small enough for a 4, 8 GB nano, get one of those. If its only 8, 16 GB, get a touch. It all depends on your library and personal preferences.
Hope this helps.

i got a ipod classic last christmas and there is nothing wrong with it, the best feature on it i think is the split screen where it shows your album cover and coverflow

I have one and the only thing that i don’t like about it is that the click wheel is a bit less responsive. It takes a bit of getting used to but it’s not that bad.
The slowness is just because it has a hard drive, and it’s no different than the 5.5.
Otherwise it is great, and I don’t think you’d need to return it.
And in response to Brendan’s answer… You should do more research before answering these questions (or at least have a bit of knowledge on the subject). There is no such thing as a 40gb touch or nano. And there’s a reason prices differ between different types of ipods, you just haven’t thought of it yet.
